Our friends, Jake and Michael, are in a band called Par Avion. We met in lib square and became fast friends. They are a talented bunch. I think we would all agree that occasionally we wonder why they're friends with us.

We have done some really fun things with them this semester. For example, we went to the rope swing in Mona, had fondue night, lit floating lanterns tangled-style (simultaneously almost set the canyon on fire), and had silent raves. However, last night takes the cake.

From the beginning of the semester we had always "lightly joked" with these boys about serenading us at our window. Joking, of course... Jake swore he was not "one of those guys." Naturally, as the semester was drawing to a close, we may have mentioned it once or twice. Or three times. It still was not funny to Jake.

Last night, as we were conversing in our living room (as a family, of course), we heard taps at our window. After calmly walking over the window (or more like pushing and shoving each other to get to the window as fast as possible), lo and behold, there were Jake and Michael standing at the bottom of our second story window, serenading us.

Musicians make great friends.

friends become family when you live with them.

My freshman year I had a random roommate. Probably the best choice I could have made. Anna Mari Gee, also known as Anakin, was brought into my life via DJ 3102. Thank you, BYU Housing. I haven't been the same since. I'll spare you the mushy details, but she's definitely one of my best friends now.

Spring term rolled around and there weren't many of us staying. 5 friends and I signed a contract for our first apartment. Most of us knew each other - or at least we knew of each other. I have got to say we have become quite the family.
  • We have family dinners, sometimes with guests.
  • We have family movies playing pretty much once a day.
  • We have an open-closet policy here. I can't remember the last time I wore an outfit that was completely my own.
  • We have a family calendar that dictates our lives. Whatever goes on that calendar happens. No matter what.
  • We have family picnics.
  • We have freshly baked treats in our kitchen every day. Thanks, Gretch!
  • Maren's motherly instincts kicked in when she adopted two baby chicks into our family. She actually sang "rubber ducky" to them and got up in the middle of the night to check on them.
  • Jordan is our rebellious teenager. Always out with the boys.
  • Kylie is our dad. She graciously drives the family everywhere (seriously ky, thank you).
  • We have to reprimand Mady and Maren for playing with their food. Literally.
  • We even took family pictures.
Needless to say, we have become family. Thanks again, BYU Housing, for making me the best of friends! I'm so sad to be leaving all of them in the next couple of days!

Hello there friends. Welcome to my empty blog. I thought it was about time to jump on the blogging bandwagon and share my extremely interesting life with the rest of the world. To be honest, my life is pretty average, so hopefully I can thrill and wow you with my glamorous college lifestyle. I hope to get this going as soon as I finish up with my semester here at BYU and head off to Colombia for the Summer. Who knows how this will turn out. If by chance this blog fails miserably, at least I will have documented some of my favorite moments of life eh? Thanks for stopping in today! Come again soon!
